Recently my sister and I have had a hunger in our heart to bring more content to you all through the blog on bdawnfit.com. In some way or form, we have always wanted to work together in order to empower, encourage and inspire women. In a world full of jealousy, insecurity, and selfishness, we believe with all of our heart that when you focus your energy on sisterhood, you unlock the potential for incredible relationships. These incredible relationships are not only formed with other women but yourself as well. Cultivating and practicing acts of kindness and inspiration towards one another can have such a positive impact on people, and ultimately this is why we are here.
First and foremost, we would like to share our personal experience with sisterhood and how genuinely pursuing this in our relationship together has led us to where we are today. Britt and I have always been extremely close. No matter how many times we argued, hit each other or took each other’s clothes growing up, deep down we just genuinely loved the crap out of each other. Now we have reached a point in our relationship where all we want to do is encourage and inspire one another. Whether that be through our walk with Christ or through pursuing our dreams, we believe that having a solid foundation with other women is an aspect that can truly make life even more amazing than it already is.
“ Britt has been my best friend since day one, and I don’t see that ever changing. I have seen her struggle, fall in love, get her heart broken and pursue her wildest dreams. In more recent years I have seen her say “I do” to the man she’s always had a heart for and accomplish some pretty amazing goals. I grow more proud of her each and every day, and this is something that is very dear to me. Despite being blood-related, we have formed a bond and relationship nothing short of sisterhood. If you could describe our relationship in two words (other than “two weirdos”) I would definitely choose the words “absolute sisterhood.” Britt inspires me every single day—to be a better woman than I was the day before, to love people more than I believe is possible and to pursue the dreams God has written on my heart. She challenges me, tells me when I’m not doing my best and encourages me when I no longer believe in myself. If I can give any woman one piece of advice, it is this—find another woman that you can put your trust in. Find someone who is going to challenge you, believe in you and let you be your entire self around. Find another woman who isn’t going to cultivate jealousy and constantly put other women down in front of you. And when you find the women that you know is just totally amazeballs, then spend time on that relationship. Pour your love and effort and encouragement into her, and you will not only find a true sister but a lifelong friend and confidant. I love you, nerd!“
“ Hello beautiful ladies: Brittany Dawn here! If you don’t already have a good feel for the bond Courtney and I share, it goes a little something like this: we’ve been inseparable since day one. I remember endless nights Disney reruns, late night discussions over our high school crushes, and disagreements over who was going to wear ‘that shirt’ today. I cheered her on at her track meets while she broke state records, and she pushed me to pursue my calling. We’ve been separated by a six-hour drive for the past four years, and if anything, it’s made our relationship even stronger. Watching Courtney grow into such a mature adult at such a ripe age… she chose to study over college parties, late nights and early mornings, graduating as part of the Deans List. She keeps me accountable in my walk with Christ and keeps my heart centered on the idea that at the end of the day… Christ is all that matters. She is the one woman in my life that I can run to for anything, and trust that she will be there to catch when I fall. Courtney is my best friend, my confidant, and the most honest opinion that I could ever seek out. These types of relationships will slowly become your roots and your grounding – maintain a safe grip on them. I love you, goob!“
Cultivating a lifestyle and even an environment of sisterhood around you is something vital to the survival of dreams, aspirations and becoming who you were meant to be. We have found that when you have genuine support and love flowing in from your sisters, then you feel like you can take on the world—which you absolutely can! It warms our hearts to see so many organizations, support groups, and movements of women taking on the world together. You may have already felt a sense of sisterhood amongst the BDawnFit girls, and that is why we want to grow on this foundation.
That being said…
Welcome to the BDawnFit Sisterhood!
We would like to incorporate the values of what you all think sisterhood is into this blog. We recently asked you ladies to describe “sisterhood” and this is what you said:
- Bond, companionship
- Friendship, lots of laughter
- Kindness and connection
- An “unstoppable, empowering force that fires up my soul!”
- Unconditional love, silliness, acceptance
- Trust, friendship, love, someone to be silly with
- “I would give my sister my first pregnancy if she could not have a child herself.”
- Women coming together showing love, trust, honesty
- Women supporting women
- Always knowing you have someone to count on
- Women with common goals and dreams coming together to accomplish something great together
- Lifting one another up, supporting each other, encouraging each other, dreaming big together
- Loving each other like Christ has called us to
Our hope for you all through this blog is that you would not only continue taking care of your body but nurture your relationships, mind, and heart. Our hope is that you would be encouraged to walk under the image of Christ, discover who you were truly meant to be and continue to grow into even more of an amazing woman than you already are. Lastly, our hope is that we would all form a relationship with one another—built on love, inspiration, value, encouragement and sacrifice for one another. We already have a sense that the group of BDawnFit girls is an incredible bunch of women, so we hope this continues to help you focus on supporting, encouraging and offering a hand to each other.
Each and every one of you has something truly amazing to offer this world and our desire is to be here for you every step of the way. The human spirit is extremely powerful, but we believe when you put a group of inspired people together and nourish those relationships, the door of opportunity to change the world swings wide open.
